Safety training is not just for companies who want their staff to be compliant. In many cases private learners what to become qualified in fire prevention with a certificate to enhance their CV. Often times contractors need the certification for themselves.

FTS Safety's public classes are an easy opportunity to get a fire prevention certificate in a single day.

Our Venue has plenty of safe parking behind a gate and with a security guard on duty. Lunch is included in the course price.

  • The gases produced by working place fires are named. 
  • Spontaneous combustion is explained. 
  • The reasons for changes in air temperature and gas concentration during fires are explained and measured. 
  • An effective escape strategy is explained. 
  • The required symbolic signs and safety equipment, pertaining to fires, are explained. 
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the causes and prevention of working place fires. 
  • The common causes of working place fires are described. 
  • Precautions to be taken to prevent working place fires. 
  • The classification of fire risks in a working area is explained. 
  • Demonstrate knowledge of fire detection methods. 
  • The functions of fire detection methods/systems are explained. 
  • The types of instruments used for fire detection are described in accordance with specified requirements. 
  • The role of physical senses in the detection of working place fires is explained according to specified requirements. 
  • Demonstrate knowledge pertaining to fire preparedness. 
  • The importance of fire fighting, escape and rescue procedures is explained. 
  • The importance of an up to date fire and rescue plan, indicating all relevant information, is explained. 
  • The fire extinguishing equipment to be used for different types of fires is explained and demonstrated. 
  • The importance of regular inspection and maintenance of fire fighting equipment is explained. 
  • The necessity for an emergency control room is explained. 
  • The arrangement, equipment and procedures in an emergency control room are explained.

What should you bring?

  1. A copy of your ID document
  2. Safety shoes or boots
  3. Appropriate clothing doing a practical with a fire extinguisher

Your certificate will be emailed within 7 days. If you require proof that you have attended immediately please let the course facilitator know on the morning of training.
